this is starting to get to be much more fun...
it is cool that with tools like eye dropper everything is just really easy to do once you get the hang of it and figure out all the little secrets and keystrokes. It is a little hard when you are working on something big and you have to remember to select and de-select individual things. It is similar to a release button on the newer ETC lightboards where your cant do anything until you hit it. It edits balls or makes you life a living hell... living hell... living hell...

So, i regret to inform you all that i did not start lesson #3 on illustrator today. instead, i had yet another college meltdown/ freak out, therefore i did not get very far on anything else. however, i did use the computer to search through the theatre schools websites- thus learning that a lot of websites really suck and lack design. go figure.

blog 11/26.

today, i worked on adobe illustrator, trying to catch up to the four days that i missed. i didnt get very far. also, i looked at the terms we are supposed to know. i knew most of them, but now i am good. i also noticed that our class period did not get the rgb, cmyk color lecture. i enjoy color a whole lot and am sad to have missed it. mister bjerke said that he will give that lecture sometime this week. i am excited.

i only spent about three minutes in class today, first because it was advisory schedule and second because i kept being pulled out of class. (which i didnt mind all that much). anyway, i barely used a computer, but i was with my counselor and he used a computer to view and change my schedule. i helped him because it was taking him a really long time and i showed him a couple of key strokes and how he could do it without using he mouse, which i hope made his life a lot easier.

today i worked on making up my missed blogs from last week, and started working on the project students illustrator packet. also, as documentation manager, i completed (with the accountant and duty manager) the verified service and job logs. i dealt with TEKs and am planning on bringing supplies for extra credit.

thespian festival day three. blog 11/16

well. this morning we woke up at 6 am so we could go see beauty and the beast. we had to. not a choice. it was as expected, plus the kid playing the beast had a lisp. all the time. on words with n's and no s...
i did not use computer technology of any kind today either, but i saw many show and went to many workshops. the workshops for the most part had decent powerpoints, but the shows which used computers for their lighting and sound operations, did not do so well. mostly the stage managers were not having good days so their cues were late, but that was the problem with computer technology.

thespian festival day two. blog 11/15.

today is the actual beginning of the thespian festival. tim gunn is staying in our hotel!!!!
the starbucks in our hotel sucks a whole lot, also their is not a nail salon in the entirety of downtown fort worth, well, actually there is one, but they only have one nail technician and she has been sick for the last two days. i hate her. if i had access to a computer i could more easily search for a nail salon and order a cab, but i do not. this has caused me to notice the dependence and effect of computer technology on modern life and society.

so, i am at the texas state thespian festival for the next five days, however, i still have to make up my blogs and somehow relate them to our TEKS. today, we went to the water gardens in fort worth and it was really pretty, as well as dangerous and dirty. today, the only computer technology that i used was getting on internet explorer and printing out directions from google maps.

Illustrator

New Project: Writing about Adobe Illustrator...

Adobe Illustrator was created in 1986 and began being shipped in 1987 as a program for Apple Computers. It allows you to work with words and type, unlike Photoshop, that mainly deals with pictures and images. It was easier to use than previous programs and had a lot more applications, as well as allowing other uses to write programs off of it and was more afforadable. It has been changed many times, most recently in April 2007.

we watched presentations. it seems most people choses recycling electronics and writing creative academic papers because they were the easiest two subjects.
i wish i had though of that, but i didnt mind, i learned about things that i will need in life so whatever.

TEKS 17.b - describing careers available in technology. i kinda did a whole project on it.

so, i was starting to enjoy blogging, then mr. bjerke had to go and ruin that too. i didnt mind doing some with teks, but everyday is ridiculous. i wish i knew my presentation grade so i could have a better idea about my grade for this six weeks. but i dont.

what i have been working on is watching presentations and south park studio characters. i know that there is a teks about graphic software, so i ball. hard. My southpark people are awesome, however, if i were redesigning it, i would find some way to make all of the hats and hair fit correctly and allow them to be easily converted into different files and turned into south park families or movies- sort of like a Sims World.

recyclinggg

What do these pictures represent? His pictures represent American waste and the problems in society.
What do these images convey to us? They convey an image of uselessness and need to recycle and not trash our world.
How are these images supposed to make us feel? They are supposed to disgust us and make us want to take action.
Why do you think that the artist chose to create these photographs? I think he created these pictures to make people see the problems and understand that it is not just something we can forget about to make it go away.
How hard do you think that it was to create the photos? I suppose it was pretty easy, if his cause is as important as he thinks it really is, and in some of the pictures (mainly the cell-phone ones) it is obvious that he just went to a company and asked to used them as they are all exactly the same.

Spend about 15 minutes writing about one picture, and describe the problem that you think that it represents. Recycling Yard #5, Seattle 2003 44x52"- is extremely pretty. The problem that it is trying to bring to life is the waste of paper and normal goods in our society. As far as most of his photography goes, I disagree with it, including this picture. Many of his things are very beautiful, but he goes so far to set them up, as well as taking a simple small picture and reproducing it over and over again to make a large picture (he said himself that he did this in an interview). Yes, there is a problem in our society, but many times recycling is not the way to go. It creates more air pollution and danger in many instances, as well as many things (paper) being made exclusively from trees that are grown exclusively to make paper, so he is creating problems that do not exist. Many of his pictures do not say anything at all. They are just beautiful and he just finds them- the things that he sets up are not as successful as the work he actually creates. I guess they can be just loosely related together and he can call it a collection. I respect his work and talent as an artist, I just don't think he actually has any clue what he is trying to say and used the cause of recycling and problems in the world as a vehicle to success and money. He needs to get over himself and come down off of his self-righteous throne, while realizing that he is not the savior of our society.

MLA partner discussion

Julia and I talked about our papers. We decided that they both meet MLA standards and thought it was cool that we didn't use times new roman, and still each picked different fonts (i used tahoma and she used arial). We also found that we were both a little confused about the TEKS thing at the bottom and guessed that adding that to the bottom of the bibliography probably doesn't meet MLA, but we did it anyway.

Powerpoint, Open Office Impress & IBM Symphony

Well, we attempted this project, but we couldn't find Symphony and didn't want to download Impress (we didn't know if we were allowed to, so we didn't try). What I know is that they are all types of presentation processing software that allow you to create a visual presentation including sound and pictures. Powerpoints' tools are pretty simple to learn and use, but you cannot easily switch to different projects, while in OpenOffice you can, which is nice. I do not know anything about IBM Symphony.

i think my paper might be late. i wouldn't be if i wasn't such a perfectionist and just basically elaborated on my outline, but no, i couldn't possibly do that.
what i can do is listen to every song that i have of def leppard as loud as possible because they are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm am doing my job by posting up due dates and further working on the calendar for this class. I am also working on my 2nd six weeks project presentation.
my TEKS are the completing all work in a timely fashion (or trying to...) and creating a project.

yesterdays quiz counted as my 10/16 blog.
today we are not doing anything because the sophomores and juniors are taking the PSAT. all the freshman boys (the freshman football team) are at the computer next to me and i have decided that the class of 2012 has something against showering and wearing clean clothes. it makes me sad for the future.
i am working well with others (following the TEKS) today by informing the kids that they smell bad and hopefully they will listen and it will help them further on in life.

i am getting behind on my blogs. and i missed 10/14 so, i am not going to do a blog for 10/14.
but 10/15 i just didn't have time. yesterday i worked on my paper, which i am very thankful that the due date was changed for and i worked on my job or formatting community service daily credits and describing the final responsibilities for each job. i got a lot done, but i keep running out of time. i am a little annoyed because i actually have excellent time management skills and there are too many requirements for this class that have due dates coming up all together. i just feel like in order to do well (to my standards of completeness), i have to spend so much extra time on things. i really care about and know a lot about my subject and want it to be really good. it just sucks that i have more homework for this class than any other.

i suppose that i am working on the time management TEKS.

i learned how to email in and out from zoho reader and how to share and compile documents between the different job lists.
i worked a lot on researching my different technologies for my project and learned how to use some of the open-source software (sketch-up) that i have found technology careers in theatre. i also worked on subscribing and becoming a member of more theatre blogs - not that i needed to be a member of any more...

today i met with the group responsible for setting up the number of community service credits for each job. i worked with a lot of people that i do not usually interact with and we created an outline for how this process is going to work- like our teks outline.
i also learned that people need to leave other peoples responsibilities alone.
also, ben knaplund entered our class today.

it is really 10/10, but i dont know if my blog yesterday for this class counted. So, what i learned yesterday was teamwork - in the teks it i described as working together to achieve a common goal. i worked with my documentation manager assistants to see how we are going to log our jobs, so i think we have gotten farther on our work.
i did not work on my project outline for this six weeks, however i am pretty sure that it will have something to do with... theatre.

i didnt get home until 1.15am yesterday.
then i washed clothes and did homework and showered.
the show went well though and i am really proud of everybody, especially our non-theatre people (aron) and i know it is going to go even better tonight (we will get the lights and sound correct).

i actually managed to finish all the work for this class and most of my other classes, except that i completely bombed my latin test. i cried. i hate being so depressed about stupid crap like that.

i love tom landry and kip and everybody and tatum(feel better soon).

there isnt much i can say about it that you havent already read in my blog, because i have pretty much whined about it this entire time... but, it now is amazing. there is a free student viewing tomorrow night at 8pm and then it runs for the next two weekends thurs-sat @ 8pm and sat-sun@ 2pm.
it is a show in a pool. with rain. and half-naked girls (and guys) and it is historically and mythologically based, so you might ask your history and english teachers if they will give you extra credit (they usually do for our shows).
it is going to be the best thing in your whole life up to this point.

i am tired of not getting blog points.

so, this is the link to the online document processor that i use and have never had a problem with, but someone has already shown it to Bjerke, so i wont get the points for it. it blows.

i am so tired i could crawl in a hole and die. but i wont. working on 4/5 shows at the same time is the worst idea ever, especially when you dont get a break in between finishing one and getting back to work on the pool for another two minutes later. sucks.
even the free starbucks doesnt make it better. thats sad.
it is going to be a really really good show though.
i am so behind on all of my homework, with three tests and project due today, which is so not going to happen.
"so have sex with him" is only a figure of speech. i promise.
the air conditioning is off in the whole school. it may be partly my fault. i though the smoke detectors were covered up in the theatre....
i want to go to new york.
i am so tired that none of this is even coherent. im sorry. i will try again later.

getting better (actual blog 04)

i am tired of the blogs that i don't want to write about. they suck and i sound like a moron. kip called the other day and we had a good talk and i miss him so much. i would have wrote this earlier, but working on four shows kind of takes all of your time away, especially when things are added on in the last minute. grrr. basically i am just really sick and exhausted, but other than that things are good.
i love kip and julia and barbi and jake and joel. i felt like i needed to give a shoutout.

money/art

often one and the same. design, whether it is beautiful or it just functions really well (even if it is ugly, great design should include both) is a form of art and creativity. the plane makes people think and is just really cool to look at and the building is really beautiful as a projection screen. i love that the things that have been happening in theatre and design for so long are finding their way onto the streets. i wish it could just be everywhere and not only in the world's premier cities.

They are funny! Anyone who would say they are concerned about the environment and then do something like creating bunny-rats are awesome. oh, and high all of the time. also on the subject of hippies, they are dumb. they want us to use electric cars because they create no pollution, but apparently they think that electricity is magic and comes from the air. it doesn't, if you are a hippie and did not know that before. power plants create pollution, and well, the more electric cars we have the more power plants we have. great, thanks guys.
....also, a great source of sustainable energy is wind power plants which actually don't create pollution, so it is a good choice to make. texas is trying to do something about it, but you damn hippies does want to slightly alter the migratory patterns of some silly birds. get over yourselves and decide on a goal and stick with it. damn you. all hippies.

weekend (or blog 03)

sucked. first, i was electrocuted, and now i get to yell at 7th pd tech theatre for being stupid and possibly causing a lot of danger. especially because i was working on the lights that could have killed someone above a pool that we built.
but julia took me starbucks, so it was all okay.
speaking of the pool, it broke. i spent two hours in a tiny hole wedged between a 2x4 and the liner of a pool that my feet were supporting from totally flooding our lab theatre and destroying our show, after the fire department filled it with water and we were trying to put together our trailer for the fine arts showcase which happens to be tomorrow. it makes me want to cry, but jake, tatum and i will fix it by friday, it just sucks that we all happen to be working on 3 to 4 shows right now, plus school and showcase.
idk, it will all work out though.

metamorphosed

we have a pool in our lab de theatre. - i was feeling a little spanish for last last sentence (very little). um, it is the most awesome thing in my whole life. also, i have designed our spring show Green Bird, and it is really really pretty. hopefully my other designers/ directors like it (if not, i will probably make them). or not, but at least i have done my part for now.

btw, metamorphoses cast: your gradesheets are due today, and also, the show is starting to look really good. i'm proud of you all.

btw2, my cousins (barbi&sami) are the best. i lovee julia too.

hmm. so far in third period i have learned that freshman boys will be freshman boys, and though they seem creepy, they really aren't trying to be. also, they can be good friends, if you train them that way. i suppose.
i missed the first like week of this class, so i guess i missed a lot of the actual learning stuff and just came in for the crazy animation videos that lasted for endless days. that taught me that old women must be easy to animate because EVERYONE had old women videos, and that they really are basically the same. oh, and basically creepy.
